This Monday was the first of August, which means it is officially National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM). NIAM was started by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to encourage people of all ages to make sure they are up-to-date on the vaccines recommended for them. By raising vaccine awareness throughout the month, CDC hopes to support public health and reduce the number of Americans who become sick from preventable illnesses.
